Meet the people who have made this project a winning team.

As part of the Public Relations and Fundraising group, Simone Giacometti brought his experience as a Web developer and communications specialist. He developed the team’s website, helped establish a communications plan including the mission statement, provided feedback on marketing materials, and assisted with other marketing and fundraising efforts.

As the founding Project Leader of UCLA's Formula Zero Team, Matt pioneered a new student-led organization into the ranks of UCLA's elite engineering design groups.  In his time as lead, he oversaw the initial conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of the 2007-2008 kart.  He organized the team's initial Formula Zero application to win one of only six available hydrogen fuel cells.  The four step application began in August 2007 and culminated in a 50+ page report(Step 4 Documents) that were submitted in February 2008.  Furthermore, he recruited many of the founding members of the team, many of whom are still active.  In this way, Matt has left his legacy on the team.

Jeff Jonokuchi joined UCLA's Formula Zero team in October of 2007 as a founding member of the team.  He worked in depth with Professor Schaefer, then grad student Aaron Aoyama, and then Project Leader Matt Wong on the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of the 2007-2008 kart.  During the Formula Zero application process, he wrote all Step 4 Documents relating to Chassis design, ergonomics, and kart safety.  In March 2008, he began overseeing kart construction as Project Leader.  He also attended the first race in August 2008 in Rotterdam, Netherlands forging new connections with other students who share the same interests in sustainability and racing.  In September 2008, he stepped down from Project Leader to return to focus on strictly Chassis design and engineering.  As of February 2009, he has left the team to finish up his senior Aerospace Engineering classes.

Karen David has been with the Formula Zero team at UCLA since it's establishment. She started as an active member of both the Public Relations and the Chassis teams. Karen helped with computer-aided drafting (CAD), drafting such components as batteries and motor mounts for dynamic stress analysis. Now the student leader of the Public Relations team, she has productively lead a group of peers to systematically target, approach, and maintain sponsorship relations with various companies. Personally she coordinated with the team's graphic designer to produce an appealing PR packet and brochure. Karen also formed a partnership between HySpeed Racing and Creation of Design for the production of team apparel for the students and for fund-raising. Karen continues to work with the PR team and the other leads of HySpeed Racing to further adjust and improve the team's approach techniques in gaining partnerships with companies.

Alex honda joined in July 2008 to fill a void in the team's software development.  Alex was one of the first people to interact with the fuel cell received in june 2008.  He graciously accepted to join the members of the team escorting the kart to its first race in Rotterdam, Netherlands.  In a pinch, he fixed many of the electrical wiring that were disassembled for shipping and saw the kart perform.  In september 2008, Alex left to focus on his studies.
